The South Atlantic Conference Announces Volleyball Players of the Week, Nov. 17

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne outside hitter Brooke Redmond was selected as the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while teammate setter Briana Gottberg was chosen as the AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Nov. 9 - 15, the League announced today.

Redmond, a sophomore from Statesville, N.C., averaged 11.5 kills and 6.5 digs in the concluding week of the season that saw Lenoir-Rhyne finish the regular season with eight straight wins under its belt, to earn the No. 3 seed heading into the SAC Volleyball Tournament. At Queens, Redmond hit a week-high .750 along with an ace in the three set victory. Against Catawba, the sophomore tallied 14 kills, eight digs, and added an assist to help the Bears win in four sets. The honor marks her second Player of the Week nod this season.

Gottberg, a senior from Mooresville, N.C., wrapped up the regular season with two wins, leading Lenoir-Rhyne to eight consecutive victories. Gottberg totaled 40 assists and averaged seven digs in the two contests, while also hitting .500 on the week. She posted a week high 24 assists against Catawba, averaging six assists per set and recorded eight digs. In the Bears' win over Queens, Gottberg found the floor for a kill, notched a service ace, and chipped in 16 assists with six digs. The senior finished the season with 616 assists and 307 digs. The award is her second Specialist of the Week plaudit this season.
