The South Atlantic Conference Announces Volleyball Players of the Week, Oct. 6

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman outside hitter Molly Locke was selected as the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while Brevard's Aleksandra Vrvilo was chosen as the AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Sept. 28- Oct. 4, the League announced today.

Locke, a senior from College Grove, Tenn., finished the week with a total of 31 kills, averaging 4.43 kills per set and posted 15 digs, helping the Eagles to a 2-0 week against Conference opponents. Carson-Newman's victory over Newberry saw the outside hitter post her fourth double-double of the season as well as her second match with over 20 kills. Against Anderson, Locke racked up ten kills accompanied with four digs and two service aces. The honor marks her second Player of the Week nod this season.

Vrvilo, a junior from Beaverton, Ore., led the Tornados to a 2-0 week where she averaged 6.56 digs per set, totaled 59 digs, six assists and four aces. In a four set win over Mars Hill, Vrvilo recorded 26 digs along with three assists and two aces. She improved the effort in Brevard's next match against Tusculum where the Tornados made a comeback after trailing 24-23 in the third set and down 2-0 in the match. In five sets of action, Vrvilo tallied 33 digs, two aces and recorded her first kill of the season. The award is her first Specialist of the Week plaudit this season.
