The South Atlantic Conference Announces Volleyball Players of the Week, Nov. 10

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman outside hitter Molly Locke was selected as the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne setter Briana Gottberg was chosen as the AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Nov. 1 - 8, the League announced today.

Locke, a senior from College Grove, Tenn., piled up 41 kills and 47 digs on a 3-0 week in League play for the Eagles as they secured a 25-win year for the fifth time in program history. A week high hitting percentage of .243 was recorded against Tusculum while a service ace and a block was also chipped in during the three set match. Locke tallied two double-doubles in the matches against Newberry and Anderson where she averaged 3.5 kills per set, totaling 28 in both games, and combined for 39 digs. The honor marks her third Player of the Week nod this season.

Gottberg, a senior from Mooresville, N.C., led the Bears to a 2-0 week against Conference opponents and pushed Lenoir-Rhyne to a six game winning streak. The preseason all-league honoree averaged 19.5 assists and 6.5 digs in the victories over Mars Hill and Tusculum where she also notched two service aces per game and found the floor for a kill. The senior finished the week with a total of 37 assists, four aces, and 13 digs. Gottberg leads her squad this season in assists at 576, and digs with 293. The award is her first Specialist of the Week plaudit this season.
