The South Atlantic Conference Announces Volleyball Players of the Week, Oct. 27

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman middle blocker Maddie Borch was selected as the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while teammate and setter Anna Patton was chosen as the AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Oct. 19-25, the League announced today.

Borch, a junior from Walnut Creek, Calif., totaled 42 kills, 12 digs, 50 points and recorded an attack percentage of .463 as the Eagles finished the week at 4-0 with two sweeps. The first match against Mars Hill saw the junior middle blocker begin a string of high hitting percentages as she posted .440 in the contest, garnering 13 kills and five digs. A .536 attack percentage was delivered in a five-set victory over Catawba where Borch set a career-high 16 kills in the match along with tallying 20 points. To cap off the week, Borch hit a week-high .556 against Columbus St. in a three set sweep. The honor marks her first Player of the Week nod this season.

Patton, a sophomore from Franklin, Tenn., brought her total of double-doubles up to ten this season as she posted two more in an undefeated week for Carson-Newman. She finished with 152 assists on the week while chipping in 33 digs and eight service aces. In the first two matches of the week, the sophomore tallied a pair of double-doubles as she locked in 35 assists and ten digs against Mars Hill, followed by 48 assists and 15 digs against Catawba. She also set a career-high with four service aces in the Eagles' win over Columbus St. The award is her second Specialist of the Week plaudit this season.
