The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week, Oct. 7
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Lachlan Dickie has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Tusculum's Pauline Muiruri has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for races Sept. 28 – Oct. 4, the League announced today.
Dickie, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tenn., ran a 26:21:86 8k in the Men's Silver Division at the Greater Louisville Classic, finishing 13th overall. Dickie led the Eagles to a 16th place finish out of 34 teams in a field that was comprised of over 300 runners. The Greater Louisville Classic boasts 118 Universities from the United States and Canada making it one of the nation's largest cross country meets. The honor marks his second Runner of the Week plaudit this season.
Pauline Muiruri, a junior from Eldoret, Kenya, placed a season-best finish of third in the Division II race at the Hagan Stone Classic in Pleasant Garden, N.C. on Oct. 3. She crossed the line at 21:59:67, earning a season-best time in the 5k. In Tusculum's last two races, Muiruri has been the Pioneers' top finisher. This honor marks her first Runner of the Week nod this season.
