The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for events during March 18 through March 24. Queens garnered the track honors with Elise Hoel Ulseth, while Newberry earned the field award with Iris Duke.
A freshman multi-event specialist, Ulseth secured a first-place finish in the heptathlon at the High Point VertKlasse Meeting, totaling a program-record 4,766 points. The point total for the Kristiansund, Norway native is a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. She claimed three first-place finishes: 1.56 meter high jump (5' 1.25"), 10.54 meter shot put (34' 7"), and 5.49 meter long jump (18' 0.25"). Ulseth finished second in the 800 meter run (2:31.90) and with a javelin throw of 36.02 meters (118' 2"). She finished third and fourth in the 200 meter dash (26.55 seconds) and 100 meter hurdles (15.28 seconds), respectively. This is Ulseth's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
A junior thrower, Duke took home a first-place mark in the hammer throw at the CIU Invitational. In her first attempt, the North Charleston, S.C. native hurled a 44.10 meter (144' 8") toss. This is Duke's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
