The South Atlantic Conference Announces Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, March 30
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Coker's Noella Leake was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Runner of the Week, while Hannah Hinson from Wingate was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets March 21-27, the League announced today.
Leake, a sophomore from Clinton, S.C., had a standout day at the Wingate Invitational. Leake finished in the runner-up position in the 200-meter dash. She recorded a time of 26.17 in the finals. She also came in third in the women's 100-meter dash, running a time of 12.42, which tied her best performance of the season. The 4x 100-meter relay, the team of Jobes, Autumn Walters, Noella Leake and Jalecia Williamson posted a season-best time of 48.72, which landed them a second place finish. That time also gives them the second-lowest time amongst the SAC teams, coming into this meet. As a team, the Cobras finished 4th overall. The honor is her first Track Runner of the Week honor this season.
Hinson, a freshman from Gates, N.C., had a huge day as the Bulldogs won the Wingate Invitational. She started the day by placing third (out of 21) in the hammer throw with a personal-record throw of 42.55 meters. Later, she broke the discus school record by six feet with her (tied for) second-place toss of 38.53 meters. Hinson finished her day by placing seventh in the shot put with a mark of 11.03 meters. Twenty student-athletes participated in both the discus and the shot put at the WU Invitational. The award is her first Field Athlete of the Week plaudit this season.
