Queens' Ulseth Named USTFCCCA Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year; Schneider Honored as Assistant Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, La.- Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with the Royals earning a pair of honors on the women's side for the fourth straight season.
Elise Ulseth, a junior from Kristiansund, Norway, was named Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year for the first time in her career. Ulseth is ranked top-five nationally in both the long jump (No. 3, 6.09m/19-11¾) and pentathlon (No. 5, 3828). She is also ranked 15th nationally in the high jump at 1.71m (5-7¼).
Additionally, Vincent Schneider earned the honor for the second straight year on the women's side. In his third year at Queens, he directs the region's top-ranked event squad in the high jump, long jump, and pentathlon. His leading athlete, Ulseth, leads the region in all three events and is ranked third nationally in the long jump and fifth nationally in the pentathlon.
Ulseth will be in action at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for March 11-13 in Birmingham, Ala., at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The University of Montevallo and the City of Birmingham will serve as co-hosts of the championships.
