The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for events during Jan. 14 through Jan. 20. Queens earned the track honors with Hannah Wolkenhauer and Wingate garnered the field honors with Hannah Hinson.
A senior distance runner, Wolkenhauer claimed first place in the 5,000 meter run at the Wake Forest Invitational. The Lincoln, Neb. native set a meet record, running the distance in a time of 17:47.14. This is Wolkenhauer's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
A senior thrower, Hinson was one of only two Division II student-athletes in the 11-person weight throw field at the Gamecock Inaugural. The Gates, N.C. native finished fifth with a toss of 16.37 meters. Hinson also competed in the shot put, recording a mark of 11.62, placing her seventh in the event. This is Hinson's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
