The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, April 10
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Layla Tanik has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Apr. 3rd-Apr. 9th, the League announced today.
Tanik, a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina, went undefeated in play this past week. She paired with Claudia De Andreis in doubles play to win 8-2 at Lenoir-Rhyne. She then won 6-0, 6-0 in singles play as Wingate cruised to a 7-2 victory. At Coker, Tanik and De Andreis won 8-1 at the number three flight. Tanik then went on to win 6-0, 6-1 at four singles in the 8-1 victory. She won twice on Saturday, against Tusculum, teaming with De Andreis for an 8-6 victory at three doubles. In singles action, Tanik won 6-2, 6-0 at five singles to end her SAC career with a 43-1 record against League opponents. The honor marks her first Player of the Week selection this season.
