The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, April 18
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Franziska Funke has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played April 11-17, the League announced today.
Funke, a sophomore from Bochum, Germany, went 3-0 in singles for the Pioneers last week, including a win over the #50 ranked singles player in NAIA. Funke earned a three-set win against Carson-Newman, then swept Queens in straight sets in a victory that gave the Pioneers the No. 2 seed in this week's South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Championship. Funke then capped the week by picking up a tiebreaker win against Georgia Gwinnett and the 50th-ranked player in NAIA. Funke is now 21-1 in singles this season.
