Wingate’s Ali Evers Named Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Wingate University's Ali Evers has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 11, announced conference officials Tuesday.
Evers, a freshman from Roswell, Ga. (Centennial HS), went 2-0 in No. 2 singles action on the week, while going 1-1 in No. 2 doubles action as the Bulldogs won their 16th consecutive match and clinched at least a share of the SAC title.
Evers won 6-3, 6-3 over Cora Berna in No. 2 singles against Coker, while teaming with Samantha Alschlager for an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles. After the Bulldogs dropped all three doubles matches Monday against Anderson, Evers helped Wingate rally back for a 5-4 win, notching a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Avery Owens in No. 2 singles.
