Limestone Wins 2022 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheSAC.com) – Limestone's Tabea Schutt scored a goal in the 75th minute of play to lead the Saints to defeat the Wingate Bulldogs 1-0 and secure the title of 2022 SAC Women's Soccer Champions on Sunday, November 6th.
Despite a hard-fought battle, the Bulldogs came up short after six shots. Limestone's offensive efforts were highlighted by Schutt's goal with an assist by Emily Bozard. The Saints earn an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship with their win this afternoon. The NCAA Women's soccer selection show will air at 7 p.m. ET Monday, Nov. 7 on NCAA.com.
On the defensive side, Limestone recorded five shots on goal while Wingate's goalie Katrine Thisgaard tallied two saves.
Bozard was named the tournament's most valuable player and was part of the 11-member All-Tournament Team.
