The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the final week of the spring season. Lenoir-Rhyne forward Kara Gavaghan was named the offensive player of the week, while Queens goalkeeper Erica Turner was named defensive player of the week.
Gavaghan, a freshman from La Crosse, Wis., was the lone goal scorer in the Bears' 2-1 overtime win over Wingate last week. With the win, the Bears secured the No. 4 seed in this week's SAC Women's Soccer Spring Tournament.
Turner, a sophomore from Dublin, Ireland, led the Royals to a 1-0 shutout victory over Limestone last week. She made three saves between the posts for Queens.
