Three SAC Women's Soccer Student-Athletes Earn CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors
AUSTIN, Texas – Three South Atlantic Conference women's soccer student-athletes were named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Women's Soccer teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) it was announced on Wednesday (Dec. 4).
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Division II Academic All-America® program.
Headlining the SAC selections is Wingate goalkeeper Abbey Frail. The graduate student studying history with a 3.92 GPA was a first team selection. Lenoir-Rhyne defender Abigael McGarel was a second team selection. The senior has a 3.92 GPA in sports management. The final honoree from the SAC was Carson-Newman defender Lira Mathes. She is a junior biology major with a 4.0 GPA.
Twenty-six of the 33 members of the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Women's Soccer teams have at least a 3.90 GPA, with 16 student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The 12 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.97.
