MATTHEWS, N.C. (theSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial's Thenia Zervas scored a goal in the 23rd minute of play, which proved to be all the offensive firepower needed for the Railsplitters to defeat the Wingate Bulldogs 1-0, and take home their second consecutive SAC Women's Soccer Tournament Championship on Sunday (Nov. 17) afternoon.
With the win, the Railsplitters earn an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.
It was a tightly contested, defensive game from start to finish with each team registering just two shots on goal. The Railsplitters Emanuely Costa made two saves, while Wingate's Abbey Frail registered one.
Zervas was named the tournament's most valuable player and there was an 11-member All-Tournament Team.
