Two SAC Student-Athletes Named to United Soccer Coaches Women's Scholar All-America Second Team
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Two South Atlantic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Women's Scholar All-America second team, both from Lenoir-Rhyne. This honor follows up their All-South Region selections earlier today (Dec. 10).
Junior defender Christina Shimshock and senior forward Abbie Brown were the representatives for the Bears.
Shimshock, an Asheville, N.C. native, is majoring in health & exercise science with a 3.81 grade point average. Starting 18 games for Lenoir-Rhyne, she played in nearly 1500 minutes and finished with four assists to her credit. Shimshock aided in the Bears' seven shutouts in 2018 as a defender.
Brown, a native of Leeds, England, has a 3.87 GPA, also in health & exercise science. For the Bears, she played in 17 games, totaling 1156 minutes, and was the team's leading offensive threat with 16 goals and six assists for 38 points. Six of the goals are credited as game-winners.
