Lincoln Memorial, Catawba Advance To Food Lion SAC Women’s Soccer Tournament Finals
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Top-seed Lincoln Memorial University and third-seed Catawba College advanced to the finals of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference women's soccer tournament on Friday.
Lincoln Memorial defeated fifth-seed Tusculum 1-0, while Catawba defeated seventh-seed Lenoir-Rhyne 2-0.
The women's tournament championship is set for Sunday at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. The women's championship match will start 30 minutes after the completion of the men's championship match, which starts at 1 p.m.
The women's tournament winner will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Becky Thompson broke up a scoreless tie with a goal in the 81st minute as top-seeded Lincoln Memorial edged No. 5 seed Tusculum 1-0 Friday afternoon in a semifinal match of the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament at Manchester Meadows.
The Lady Railsplitters (14-4) advance to Sunday's championship match against No. 3 seed Catawba at 3 p.m. in Rock Hill. Tusculum falls to 14-6 and will learn its NCAA postseason fate when the national tournament field is announced after this weekend.
Stellar defense was on display as each team recorded 21 combined shots (LMU 12, TC 9), with six being on frame (TC 3, LMU 3).
LMU keeper Denise de Resende recorded the shutout as she finished with three saves, while Tusculum rookie sensation Tori Hadjopoulos was stellar as she allowed just one goal and accounted for a pair of stops in the loss for the Pioneers.

Catwaba College scored two second half goals to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne College, 2-0, in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference women's soccer tournament semifinals Friday night. The Lady Indians will face Lincoln Memorial on Sunday 30 minutes after the completion of the men's championship game for the SAC championship.
After a scoreless first half, Catawba got on the board in the 56th minute when Lauren Whiteley (Greensboro, N.C.) scored on off a throw in. Tasha Wilheim (Mt. Savage, Md.) performed the throw in which bounced through the box to the far post where Whiteley kicked it in for the 1-0 lead.
The Lady Indians extended their lead in the 69th minute when Alexandra Beshk (Mission Viejo, Ca.) connected for her 15th goal of the season. Beshk received a pass from Wilhelm in the left side of the box and knocked it into the upper 90 for a 2-0 lead.
Kathleen Blake (Greensboro, N.C.) had two saves in the game, both coming in the second half, on way to her fifth shutout of the season.
The Bears and Indians each had ten shots in the match with Catawba holding the edge in shots on goal, 4-2.
