Carson-Newman’s Angus, Tusculm’s Moreira Named All-Americans
MISSION, Kan -- Two women's soccer players from the South Atlantic Conference have been named to the 2006 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas® NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America Team. Carson-Newman's Rebecca Angus and Tusculum's Ashley Moreira were both named to the Third Team.

Carson-Newman senior forward Rebecca Angus, the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, led the Lady Eagles with 21 goals as Carson-Newman finished the season with an 18-2-1 record and claimed the SAC regular season and tournament titles. Angus also helped lead the Lady Eagles to the NCAA South Regional Tournament final.

Tusculum
Tusculum College defender Ashley Moreira has been named to the 2006 NSCAA/adidas® NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America Third Team announced College officials Friday. Moreira becomes the second player in the program's history to earn All-America honors. Tara Henderson earned NSCAA All-America distinction in 2001 and again in 2003.
Moreira, a 5-8 senior from London, Ontario, Canada, was named to the NSCAA/adidas® All-Southeast Region First Team the last two years (2005, 2006) and was tabbed to the Daktronics All-Region First Team last month. The two-time All-South Atlantic Conference selection led the Pioneers with seven assists to go along with a pair of goals, including the match-winner in Tusculum's 1-0 win over Armstrong Atlantic State University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Moreira posted 31 career assists, tied for the most in school history. She was also named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Third Team.
Moreira anchored one of the best defenses in the country as the Pioneers won the NCAA II Southeast Region Championship and advanced to the national quarterfinals for the first time in school history. Tusculum (14-3-3) allowed just 14 goals all year, while posting a 0.68 goals against average.
Moreira was one of two South Atlantic Conference players to be named to this year's All-America team. Joining Moreira on the All-America Third Team was Carson-Newman midfielder Rebecca Angus.
Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
