Carson-Newman’s Rebecca Nulph named MVP of Food Lion SAC Women’s Soccer Tournament
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Carson-Newman midfielder Rebecca Nulph, who helped lead Carson-Newman to the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference women's soccer tournament title, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Nulph, a senior from Lebanon, OH (Lebanon High School) was one of the Lady Eagles' most commanding players in the finals, and made several great challenges when Catawba threatened.
Also making the All-Tournament team from Carson-Newman were Katie Perea, Jessie Stevens and Erica Stegner.
Making the All-Tournament Team from runner-up Catawba were goalkeeper Kathleen Blake, Lainey Nichols and Alyssa Schoenburg. Blake made five important saves in a semifinal win over Presbyterian. Nichols scored both goals in a 2-1 quarterfinal win over Newberry.
Semifinalists Mars Hill and Presbyterian each placed two on the All-Tournament Team.
Representing Mars Hill were goalkeeper Claudia Cala and Amber Rasasack.
Presbyterian placed Claire Joyce and goalkeeper Erin Sinkuler on the All-Tournament Team. Joyce scored the game-winning goal over Tusculum in the quarterfinal round.
