Newberry, Presbyterian Women’s Soccer Teams To Be Honored for Work in Classroom
MISSION, KAN. --- The Newberry College and Presbyterian College women's soccer teams will receive recognition as one of 264 teams across the country with a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) put out their list of teams on their Web site, www.nscaa.com, which included the two South Atlantic Conference schools. Newberry College had a team GPA of 3.19 for the 2002-2003 scholastic year. Presbyterian College had a team GPA of 3.40. A Presbyterian player has won the Scholar Athlete award for women's soccer for the past 10 years.
The teams will receive the Team Academic Award recognition at the 57th Annual NSCAA convention in Charlotte in January.
Newberry College won three classroom GPA titles in the South
Atlantic Conference for the spring semester of last year, after
winning a league-high five titles for last fall. The Lady Indians
finished third in women's soccer in the spring following a second
place finish in the fall. Newberry College is now regularly among
the leaders in team GPA in the SAC at first or second place overall
in team titles in the last three semesters.
