Limestone Clinches Top Seed in Match Play at NCAA Championships; Anderson's Charles Finishes Tied for 55th
No. 3 Limestone Clinches Top Seed in Match Play at NCAA Championships
DEARBORN, MICH. – Freshman Stina Wikstrom fired a 71 (-1) while two more Saints posted top-10 finishes on the final day of stroke play to help No. 3 Limestone University lock down the top overall seed in medal match play at the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championships.
Limestone moves on to medal match play at the NCAA Division II National Championships and will face eighth-seeded Grand Valley State in the national quarterfinals starting at 7:20 a.m. The winner advances to the semifinals Friday afternoon to face the winner of the Indianapolis and Dallas Baptist quarterfinal.
The medal match portion will be scored by the cumulative number of strokes won by rather than the number of holes won. For example, a player "up 3" means that the golfer is up three strokes, not three holes. The player up by the most strokes after 18 holes wins the match and earns a point for their team.
All five golfers on the team will compete for points, meaning the team with at least three points will advance to the semifinal round tomorrow afternoon. Any ties will be broken by a scorecard tiebreaker. READ MORE
