PC’s Wessinger Named to Women’s Basketball All-District Team
CLINTON, SC - Presbyterian College women's basketball player Rebecca Wessinger has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine® Academic All-District III Women's Basketball Team announced today.
Wessinger, a 5-9 junior forward from Laurens, SC, currently leads her team and the South Atlantic Conference in scoring (18.1 ppg) and ranks 33rd in the nation in that category. She is also averaging 5.4 rpg, 1.8 apg while shooting 47.6% from the field and 75.5% from the free throw line. This season she has scored 20+ points on nine occasions including setting and tying her career-high of 29 points on two occasions including PC's 90-86 overtime win over Mars Hill College on February 5th. She has also scored in double figures in 21 of 25 games and ranks 5th in field goal percentage, 6th in free throw percentage, 13th in offensive rebounds (2.08), and 17th in the SAC in rebounding.
In the classroom, she carries a cumulative GPA of 3.92 while majoring in biology. She has been selected to the South Atlantic Conference Academic Honor for two straight years while being named to the school's Dean's List (3.3 GPA) for four semesters and to the President's List (4.0 GPA) for one semester.
Wessinger will now advance the national ballot for Academic
All-American consideration. Members of the Academic All-District
team are determined by a vote by members of the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from District III.
