Tusculum’s Maples Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s Basketball First Team
STAMFORD, Conn. --- Tusculum College's Julie Maples has been named to the 2003-04 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV College Division Women's Basketball First Team announced College officials Thursday.
Maples, a junior guard from Knoxville, Tenn., has been Tusculum's top offensive threat for the past two seasons. The South Doyle High School graduate is averaging 16.1 points per game this season, including 18.5 ppg in her last four outings. She has scored 1,012 points in her career, becoming only the 10th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
Maples has a 3.99 cumulative grade point average majoring in English Education. She was the 2002-03 South Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year, and has been named to the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Dean's List and Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester. She returns to the Academic All-District squad, earning Second Team honors last year.
Maples advances to the Academic All-America® ballot, which will be announced March 4.
The Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from institutions within District IV, which includes the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
