WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week Announced
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week for games played during week two of the 2025 season. Tusculum's Danielle Jason was named the Player of the Week and Mars Hill's Tea Cornett was named the Pitcher of the Week.
Jason, a graduate student from Olyphant, Pa., was scorching at the plate as Tusculum improved to a program-best 8-0 on the season. Jason had six multi-hit games and went 16-of-21 (.762 average) with 17 runs scored in the six games last week. She hit four doubles and one triple while driving in four runs and walking three times. For the week, she had a .792 on base percentage and 1.048 slugging percentage. She added 11 stolen bases in 12 attempts.
Cornett, a freshman from Mannassas, Va., went a perfect 3-0 for Mars Hill and threw three complete games. For the week, she tossed 27.2 innings and allowed just six earned runs to produce a 1.52 ERA to go with a 1.12 WHIP. In wins over Lander and Georgia College, she threw 14 innings and allowed just three earned runs to win both games before coming back to toss a complete game shutout of Middle Georgia.
