Coker Sweeps South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Coker third baseman Hannah Price has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Softball Player of the Week and Coker right-hander Christine Carver has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 19-25, the League announced today.

Price, a senior from Surfside Beach, S.C., led the Cobras to a 4-2 record last week. She was outstanding at the plate, batting .474 with two doubles, two home runs, two runs scored and six RBI. Price also had an on-base percentage of .500 and a slugging percentage of .895.

Carver, a sophomore from Waxhaw, N.C., had a great week, as she threw a perfect game and finished the week going 2-1 with a save. She started the week by throwing a perfect game against Claflin, allowing no runs, no hits and no base runners, while striking out 11 in seven innings of work. She followed that performance by picking up the save in game two against Claflin, going two and two-thirds innings, allowing just one hit with two strikeouts. Her second win of the week was another complete game shutout, this time against Lees-McRae. Carver went the distance, allowing only two hits with five strikeouts. For the week, she had a 1.54 ERA allowing just five runs on 11 hits with 25 strikeouts in 22 and two-thirds innings in the circle.

These are the first Player of the Week selections for both Price and Carver this season.
