Lenoir-Rhyne’s Landreth, Catawba’s Tysinger Earn SAC Softball Weekly Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne first baseman Sydney Landreth and Catawba pitcher Carley Tysinger have been selected as the SAC softball weekly award winners for games played Feb. 24 through March 2, the league office announced on Tuesday.
SAC Softball Player of the Week | Sydney Landreth, Lenoir-Rhyne
Landreth hit .412 on got on base in over half of her at bats last week, guiding Lenoir-Rhyne to a 6-1 record against various non-conference opponents.
The freshman totaled seven hits in the slate of games, including two-hit performances on Saturday in a 7-0 Lenoir-Rhyne win over Lander and on Sunday in a 9-0 victory at Columbus St. She also tallied three doubles, five runs and five RBI on the week, and her six walks helped produce a .542 on-base percentage.
On the season, Landreth is hitting .340 with nine extra-base hits and 12 RBI.
SAC Softball Pitcher of the Week | Carley Tysinger, Catawba
Tysinger earns SAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time in a row after going 4-0 with 48 strikeouts and only a single earned run given up in 26.2 innings for Catawba. Her performances helped the Indians go 6-1 as a team.
Tysinger threw two complete games on the week – the first a 4-0 Catawba win over GRU Augusta on Friday, and the second a 5-1 victory against Armstrong on Saturday. She posted double-digit strikeouts in three outings, including 14 on Wednesday in a 7-3 win versus Limestone. The sophomore allowed just 11 hits and two walks in her five appearances.
Tysinger is currently leading or tied for the SAC lead in ERA at 0.30, strikeouts with 81 and wins with eight.
