Brevard’s Clemens, Catawba’s Gibbs, L-R’s Millwood Earn SAC Softball Weekly Awards
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Brevard's Kayla Clemens and Catawba's Tara Gibbs have been named co-SAC Players of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Dawon Millwood has been tabbed the SAC Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
Clemens shined at the plate and in the circle this week as she posted a .500 batting average and added three wins hurling for the Tornados. The sophomore's week was highlighted by a three-for-three performance against Johnson C. Smith, where she drove in two runners, and scored two on her own. In the circle, Clemens struck out 14 batters and finished the week with a 0.77 ERA.

Gibbs led the Catawba offense this week, as she finished with a
.727 batting average, four runs batted in and a home run. The
junior's highlight came against Bloomsburg as she hit a game-tying
home run in the ninth inning to extend the game. Catawba eventually
won 5-4 in 11 innings. Gibbs currently leads the Lady Indians with
a .382 batting average and 10 home runs.
Millwood, who earns SAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, was the workhorse in the circle for the Bears this week, as she tallied six wins in eight games. The senior finished with a 0.71 earned run average and fanned 32 batters to lead the Bears to a 7-1 record. The Hixson, Tenn., native allowed just six base runners to score in 39.2 innings as she continues to increase her school records of wins (83) and shutouts (32).
