The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Cross Country Runners of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Cross Country Runners of the Week for meets competed in during the sixth week of the 2023 season. Catawba swept the awards for the third time this season, as Madison Clay was named the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week while Erick Ramirez was named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Clay, a sophomore from Morganton, N.C., highlighted the weekend for the Catawba Women's Cross Country team with her individual performance at the UAH Charger Invitational. Clay claimed a third-place finish in the event, running a time of 17:29.90. Her performance led the team to a fifth-place finish.
Ramirez, a graduate student from Dobson, S.C., led the Catawba men in the 8K race with a seventh-place finish and a time of 24:25.50. The men finished 10th in a loaded field at the UAH Charger Invitational.
