The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Cross Country Runners of the Week, Sept. 28
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Jacob Black was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Alyssa Johnson from Wingate was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Sept. 19-25, the League announced today.
Black, a junior from Manassas, Va., clocked in at 26:39 to finish fourth overall on the 8K course at the Trevecca Nazarene NCAA Division II Showcase over the weekend. The field featured 98 runners from across the country. Black has finished in the top five in the three meets he has ran this season, including a pair of first-place finishes. The honor is his second Runner of the Week honor this season.
Johnson, a senior from San Jose, Calif., finished second in the seventh annual Bulldog Stampede at the WU Cross Country Facility over the weekend. Running her first 6K of the season, Johnson recorded a team-leading time of 22:42.39 as her performance led her squad to the overall team title. The honor is her first Runner of the Week plaudit this season.
