Lenoir-Rhyne’s Popple, Eisenmann named Runners of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne College's Brad Popple and Genna Eisenmann were named the SAC Men's and Women's Runners of the Week, conference officials announced today.
Popple, a freshman from Iron Station, NC (East Lincoln HS) finished third overall (and first of all NCAA Division II runners) at the Lenoir-Rhyne College Invitational this past Friday evening at Southside Park in Newton, NC. Popple, a graduate of East Lincoln High School and a native of Iron Station, NC, ran a 26:44 over the 8K course and has been Lenoir-Rhyne's top runner all three meets so far in 2006. Popple also led Lenoir-Rhyne to a first-place finish against NCAA Division II competition, one point better than Lees-McRae College.
Eisenmann, a sophomore from Clayton, NC (Clayton HS) was the Bear's top female runner at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational on Friday at Southside Park in Newton, NC. The Clayton, North Carolina native and Clayton High School graduate was the top NCAA Division II runner and finished third overall with a time of 19:55 over the 5K course. Eisenmann, who has been the Bears' top runner all three meets this year, led the squad to a second-place finish.
The SAC Runners of the Week are selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
