Mars Hill Cross Country Teams Have Nine Named to Coaches All-Academic Team
Mars Hill, NC - In a record setting performance six women and three men cross country runners from Mars Hill College were named to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Coaches Individual All-Academic Team. The honor is a combination of excellence in the classroom and performance at the NCAA D-II Region Championships.
For the women they were once again led by Erin McKee making her third appearance on the team while tied for the highest GPA in the nation. Other teammates making the team were Rachel Retallick (3rd time), Ashley McCauley and Kate Prichard (2nd time) and Elizabeth Head and Keely Hollahan (1st time).
For the men senior James Thompson became the first runner in team history to earn the honor an incredible four times. Joining James on the team are Jon Stoehr (2nd time) and Dustin Whitlow (1st time).
In addition the women's team earned All-Academic Team honors for
their ninth consecutive season. The ladies competing in the Region
Championships had a cumulative team grade point average of
3.92.
