Carson-Newman’s Kirksey Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman's Bryce Kirksey (Cleveland, Tenn.) has been named to the 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV Men's Track and Field/Cross Country first team, college officials announced today.
Kirksey, a senior majoring in Accounting, was one of 10 student-athletes from District IV to be named to the team and was the only one with a perfect 4.00 grade point average. A member of the Eagles' cross country team, Kirksey was selected the 2004-05 Carson-Newman Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. He has been a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll for four years as well as a member of the Dean's List at C-N.
Kirksey will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration. The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team is determined by members of the Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The college division of District IV is comprised of NCAA
Division II and III as well as NAIA school from Tennessee,
Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio and Michigan.
