JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman's Bryce Kirksey (Cleveland, Tenn.) has been selected to the 2004-05 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American team for Men's Track and Field/Cross Country.
Kirksey, a second-team Academic All-American, is a member of the Eagles' cross country team. He graduated from C-N in May with a perfect 4.0 grade point average in Accounting. Kirksey was selected as the 2004-05 Carson-Newman Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Dean's List every semester at C-N.
Kirksey was a member of the SAC Student Athlete Advisory Board and was active in the C-N Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Campus Crusade. He helped lead the Eagles to a fifth place finish in the SAC Tournament in 2004.
Kirksey is the second Academic All-American Carson-Newman has produced in 2004-05. Kyle Frohock (Franklin, Tenn.), a member of the Eagles' soccer team, was selected as an All-American as well. Kirksey is the 11th C-N student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American and the first member of the cross country team to receive the honor.
