Twenty SAC Student-Athletes Qualify for NCAA Division II Men's Track & Field National Championship
INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A total of 566 participants, 283 men and 283 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event. Representing the South Atlantic Conference will be 20 men's student-athletes, three from Carson-Newman, one from Catawba, four from Lenoir-Rhyne, eight from Limestone, and four from Queens.
From Carson-Newman, Isaish Kyle will compete in the high jump, Sterling Melancon will compete in the 100-meter dash, and Devon Moore will compete in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
Brien Pittman will represent Catawba in the 400-meter dash.
From Lenoir-Rhyne, Lucas Besong, P.J. Lotharp, Marlin Davis, and Jacob Wadsworth will complete in the 4x100-meter relay, while Davis will also compete in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and Wadsworth will compete in the 200-meter and the long jump.
Representing Limestone will be David Allen, Javaris Michael, Nelson Stalling, and Ethan Morrison in the 4x400-meter relay, while Jordan Clark, Noah Twitty, Mikale Hart, and Michael will compete in the 4x100-meter relay. Additionally, Allen will compete in the 200-meter dash, while Michael will compete in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Morrison and Stalling will compete in the 400-meter dash and William Gray will compete in the 110-meter hurdles.
For Queens, Seb Anthony will compete in the 800-meter run, while Jan Lukas Becker will compete in the 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs. Martin Knauer will compete in the shot put and Adam Wright will compete in the 800-meter run.
The championships will be held May 27-29 in Allendale, Michigan at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium. Grand Valley State University and the West Michigan Sports Commission will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com.
