Queens Sweeps South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors
Queens’ Jose Rosas was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Queens’ Martin Knauer was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested April 2-8, the League office announced today.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Queens' Jose Rosas was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Queens' Martin Knauer was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested April 2-8, the League office announced today.
Rosas, a junior from Cordoba, Mexico, posted an NCAA provisional time in the 10,000-meter run at the Colonial Relays with a time of 30:06.75. In addition to being an NCAA qualifying time, this was a personal-best for Rosas and he is now ranked No. 10 nationally and No. 2 in the SAC.
Knauer, a freshman from Wolnzach, Germany, had an outstanding week, as he won the shot put at High Point University's VertKlasse Meet with a throw of 16.69 meters. He also finished second in the discus with a toss of 45.69 meters.
The award is Rosas' first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Knauer's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
