The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, Mar. 22
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Coker's Tony McElveen was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Track Runner of the Week, while Isaiah Kyle from Wingate was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested the first week of the season, the League announced today.
McElveen, a sophomore from Florence, S.C., put down a program-record 10.88 in the 100-meter dash to finish third at the Power & Fitness Invitational over the weekend. He also finished second in the 200-meter event with a time of 22.53. The award is his first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Kyle, a sophomore from Morristown, Tenn., claimed the top spot in the high jump at the loaded Charlotte 49er Classic over the weekend. Kyle cleared 6' 10.75" to provisionally qualify for the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The award is his first Field Athlete of the Week nod this season.
