SAC Track and Field Weekly Award Winners Announced
The SAC has released its Track and Field Athletes of the Week for results spanning March 31-April 6, honoring student-athletes from Lenoir-Rhyne, Queens and Carson-Newman.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – The SAC has released its Track and Field Athletes of the Week for results spanning March 31-April 6, honoring student-athletes from Lenoir-Rhyne, Queens and Carson-Newman.
SAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week | Kevin Baxter, Lenoir-Rhyne
Baxter finished first in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday at the VertKlasse Meeting with a wind-aided time of 13.81. The mark automatically qualifies the sophomore for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field national championships, and is Division II's best time this spring.
SAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week | Cassadine Blassingame, Carson-Newman
Blassingame set a Terrier Relays record with a 7.24 meter distance in the long jump, finishing first in the event. He also came in fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.63 meters.
SAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week | Brooke Robinson, Lenoir-Rhyne
Robinson finished first in the 400-meter dash at the VertKlasse Meeting with a school-record time of 56.70. She also placed second in the 200-meter dash with a school-record mark of 25.57 and was part of two relay squads – 400-meter and 1,600 meter – that set new program records.
SAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week | Shelby Kennard, Queens
Kennard's pole vault jump of 12'11.75" set a new Queens outdoor record and placed first at the Terrier Relays. She also competed on the Royals' 4x200 meter relay team that finished fifth at the event.
