SAC Announces First-Ever Track and Field Athletes of the Week
With the outdoor season now underway, the SAC has announced the conference’s first-ever Athletes of the Week for men’s and women’s track and field. Outdoor track and field is in its first season as an official SAC championship sport.

SAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week | Jarrod Spears, Lenoir-Rhyne
Spears won three events for Lenoir-Rhyne at last weekend's PowerSox Invitational, capturing the men's 100-meter and 200-meter titles, along with participating on the champion 400-meter relay team.
He finished with times of 10.76 in the 100-meter and 22.33 in the 200-meter, while the Bears' 400-meter relay team posted a final time of 41.88.
SAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week | Jesse Lavelle, Wingate
Lavelle posted an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the hammer throw at the Charlotte 49ers Classic on Friday. His distance of 54.25 meters was seventh out of 41 participants, and the best of any Division II competitor.
SAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week | Brooke Robinson, Lenoir-Rhyne
Robinson set Lenoir-Rhyne individual records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the PowerSox Invitational. She won the 200-meter with a time of 25.32, finished second in the 100-meter with a mark of 12.56, and also helped the Bears' 400-meter relay team post a school record time of 49.85.
SAC Co-Women's Field Athlete of the Week | Tiana Mills, Carson-Newman
Mills set Carson-Newman program records in the long jump and triple jump at last weekend's PowerSox Invitational. She won the long jump with a mark of 18'-2.25", and placed second in the triple jump at 35'-11.25".
SAC Co-Women's Field Athlete of the Week | Dominique Jones, Lenoir-Rhyne
Jones finished first in the discus and second in the hammer throw competitions at the PowerSox Invitational, breaking school records in both events. She posted a discus mark of 122'-7", and a hammer throw distance of 131'-11".
