Lenoir-Rhyne Sweeps South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Lucas Besong was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and teammate Jacob Wadsworth was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the second week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Besong, a junior sprinter from Camden Wyoming, Del., placed first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.80 at the Bast-Cregger Invitational and was part of the 4x400-meter winning team that set a new Lenoir-Rhyne record of 3:17.01.
Wadsworth, a junior jumper from Dansville, N.Y., brought home the hardware with a third place finish in the pole vault and a second place finish in the long jump at the Bast-Cregger Invitational. His pole vault mark was 3.60-meters, while his long jump leap was 6.80-meters.
The award is Besong's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Wadsworth's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
