Presbyterian Claims Second Straight SAC Men’s Tennis Championship
CLINTON, S.C. - No. 30 Presbyterian College men's tennis team claimed the second straight South Atlantic Conference championship title with Saturday's dominating 9-0 victory over Wingate University at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
The PC men's tennis program has now won seven SAC Regular Season Championships overall.
The Blue Hose improve to 14-5 overall and finish undefeated in the conference with a 6-0 record. Wingate falls to 4-14 on the season and 0-6 in league play.
PC swept all three doubles points en route to the victory.
At No. 1 singles, Aaron Chapman defeated Wingate's Brandon Thornton to improve to 13-5 on the season. PC's Matthew Martin improved to 15-3 overall with his 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 win over Hendrik Ternieden at No. 2 singles.
Patrick Fediuk had an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory over Wingate's Luis Ortiz at No. 5 singles to finish with a record of 15-4 overall and 6-0 in SAC play. At No. 4 singles, Michael Nicol defeated the Bulldogs' Brendan Molan with a score of 6-3, 6-0.
The Blue Hose return to action at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13 when they face Pfeiffer in Misenheimer. N.C.
