Tusculum’s Leo Guaycurus Named Men’s Tennis Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Leo Guaycurus of Tusculum College has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday.
Guaycurus, a 5-6, 150-pound sophomore from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, went 3-0 at No. 5 singles, including the deciding point in Tusculum's 5-4 league win at Catawba. Tusculum went 3-1 during the week, including three SAC victories.
Guaycurus posted three SAC wins, including a straight set victory (6-1, 6-2) over Carson-Newman's Jack Harvie in TC's 6-3 win over the Eagles. Against Catawba and with the match tied at 4-4, Guaycurus defeated Cyle Petersen in a three-set thriller 7-6, 2-6, 6-2. He closed out the week with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Brendon Molan of Wingate as TC defeated the Bulldogs 8-1.
The SAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
