Carson-Newman Sweeps South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Soccer Player of the Week Awards
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played between Oct. 7 and Oct. 14. Carson-Newman midfielder Nic Carsh was named the offensive player of the week, while teammate and goalkeeper Bram Kaarsgaren was named defensive player of the week.
Carsh, a sophomore from Newberg, Ore., was instrumental in the Eagles' 2-0 record this week. He scored and assisted on both game-winning goals. He earned the assist on Carson-Newman's second goal in its 2-1 win over Alabama-Huntsville and he found the back of the next in the Eagles' 1-0, double-OT victory over No. 15 Coker. He finished the week with three points off a goal and an assist. This is Carsh's first offensive player of the week accolade of the season.
Kaarsgaren, a junior from Den Bosch, Netherlands, collected his second shutout of the season in Carson-Newman's 1-0 win over No. 15 Coker. He made five saves in the match earning his seventh win of the season. This is Kaarsgaren's second defensive player of the week honor for the 2019 season.
