Six South Atlantic Conference Teams Earn Spots in United Soccer Coaches Men's Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The United Soccer Coaches announced its 10th week of Division II men's soccer regional rankings on Tuesday (Nov. 6), with six teams representing the SAC in the southeast.
Tusculum skyrocketed to No. 4 after winning the SAC tournament championship as the No. 3 seed. Falling in the Pioneers' path were Wingate, Carson-Newman, and, in the finals, Anderson.
After being unranked in the previous ranking, Anderson made its way to the No. 5 spot with their SAC tournament runner-up finish. As the No. 4 seed, the Trojans downed Lincoln Memorial, upset the No. 1 seed Lenoir-Rhyne, but fell in the finals to Tusculum.
Dropping to No. 6 is Lenoir-Rhyne. The Bears, the No. 1 seed in the SAC tournament, fell to Anderson in the semifinals. Lenoir-Rhyne defeated Coker 2-0 to reach the second round.
Queens University of Charlotte is down to the No. 7 spot in the southeast after being upset in the conference tournament quarterfinals by Carson-Newman 2-1.
Falling to No. 9 is Carson-Newman. The Eagles shocked Queens in the SAC tournament quarterfinals with their 2-1 upset, but dropped their semifinal match to eventual champion, Tusculum.
Lincoln Memorial rounds out the poll at No. 10. The Railsplitters lost a tight match in the SAC quarterfinals to runner-up Anderson 2-1.
Tusculum, Queens, and Anderson all earned bids to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional, with each team taking the field on Friday, November 9.
