Carson-Newman’s Frame, Wingate’s Montgomery Named Daktronics Southeast Region Players of the Year
Carson-Newman forward Ross Frame and Wingate forward Jade Montgomery have been selected as the Daktronics Men’s and Women’s Soccer Southeast Region Players of the Year, leading a total of 23 players from the SAC earning All-Region accolades.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Carson-Newman forward Ross Frame and Wingate forward Jade Montgomery have been selected as the Daktronics Men's and Women's Soccer Southeast Region Players of the Year, leading a total of 23 players from the SAC earning All-Region accolades.
Both Frame and Montgomery lead the SAC in points, goals and assists, and were named the conference's Players of the Year earlier this month. Frame – who has guided Carson-Newman to a berth in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship national semifinals – has 18 goals and 10 assists. Montgomery, meanwhile, finished her season – one that culminated with a national quarterfinal appearance for the Bulldogs - with 17 goals and 11 assists.
13 SAC players earned spots on the men's All-Southeast Region Team, including eight first-team picks. Joining Frame on the First Team are Lincoln Memorial forward Mario Pinto, Wingate defender Gui Andrade, Anderson defender Lars Zimmerman, Queens midfielder Thiago Andrade and defender Jonathan Onyeaka, and Carson-Newman midfielder Sindre Welo and keeper Rumwald Le Guevel.
The SAC is represented on the men's Second Team by Coker forward Daniel Jackson, Queens forward Erick Suarez, and Wingate forward Peron Da Silva, midfielder Shaun Gadsby and defender Victor Tozelli.
Thiago Andrade, Gui Andrade, Frame, Pinto, Zimmerman, Welo, Le Guevel, Jackson, Da Silva, Gadsby and Tozelli were all previously selected to the All-SAC First Team, while Onyeaka and Suarez were All-Conference Second Team honorees.
The women's All-Region Team includes 10 SAC student-athletes, led by first-team selections Montgomery, Lenoir-Rhyne defender Amber Madriaga, Queens midfielder Caitlyn Rodrigues, and Wingate defender Chandler Murphy and midfielder Taryn Grivois.
Lenoir-Rhyne also placed three on the Second Team in forward Garcelle Alequine and midfielders Emmi Dunn and Hanna Kiebel. They are joined by Wingate keeper Ashlyn Hardie and Newberry midfielder Garbielle Brodie.
Montgomery, Alequine, Brodie, Grivois, Rodrigues, Murphy and Madriaga earned All-SAC First Team accolades earlier in the fall, while Kiebel and Dunn were second-team selections.
