Men’s Soccer All-Tournament Team Announced
LMU?s Nelson Pizarro named MVP
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lincoln Memorial University's Nelson Pizarro, who helped lead the Railsplitters to the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Championship, has been named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Pizarro, a senior midfielder, scored the winning goal in LMU's semifinal win over Carson-Newman.
Also making the All-Tournament team from Lincoln Memorial are Leonardo de Barros, who scored three goals in the tournament, senior midfielder Claudio Rico and senior goalkeeper Brent Cole.
Tournament runner-up Tusculum placed three on the All-Tournament team. Making the team from the Pioneers are junior midfielder Bruno Conceicão, senior midfielder Matt Ross and senior forward Tony Prisco. Conceicão scored five goals, including four in a semifinal win over Wingate.
Wingate and Carson-Newman each placed two on the All-Tournament team. Making the team from Wingate are senior defenders Chris Bohach amd Kerrin Sheldon. Sheldon has Wingate's only goal in a quarterfinal win over Newberry. Bohach scored on a penalty kick against Tusculum.
Carson-Newman's Marcus Cabralis, a defender/midfielder and midfielder Jakop Storhaug were also named to the All-Tournament team. Each scored one goal in the quarterfinal win over Lenoir-Rhyne.
