NSCAA Announces All-Appalachian Region Men’s Soccer Team
Mission, Kan.----The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has announced the 2005 NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II All-Appalachian Region teams for men's soccer, with the South Atlantic Conference capturing 16 of 22 spots on the squad. Carson-Newman College and Catawba College led the way with four first team selections each. Carson-Newman advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in 2005.
South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year Tyler Baldock of Carson-Newman is the first team goalkeeper. Baldock is one of four Eagles who earned first team laurels. Catawba senior defender Kenny Crowe leads four Indians on the first squad.
The SAC provided all 11 first team members. Wingate University placed junior midfielder Ben Clark (Chesterfield, England) and senior forward Robert Dawson (Manchester, England) on the first team. Presbyterian College senior midfielder Trent Weber also earned a spot on the first team.
The 11 first-team members will advance to the national ballot for an opportunity to earn All-American honors. The SAC had five of the 11 second-team standouts on the team as well.
