Carson-Newman, Catawba Standouts Named Men’s Soccer All-Americans
ROCK HILL - A pair of standout men's soccer players from Carson-Newman College and Catawba College have been named to the 2005 All-America Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and adidas.
Catawba senior Kenny Crowe, of Reeders, PA, and Carson-Newman junior goalkeeper Tyler Baldock (Surrey, British Columbia) were both selected to the first team.
Crowe, a senior defender from Pocono Mountain High School, helped Catawba post seven shutouts in 2005 and scored three goals with one assists. During his career, he was a four-time all-conference and all-region selection. Crowe scored 20 goals and added two assists during his four seasons as an Indian.
Baldock earns All-American honors for the second consecutive season. He was named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season in 2005 and led the Eagles to an 18-2-2 overall record, the SAC regular season and tournament championships and a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II national tournament.
Baldock had a 15-1-2 overall record for C-N and led the nation in save percentage (.915) and was second nationally in goals against average (0.47).
