Anderson Extends Lead in Round Two of 2023 SAC Men's Golf Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Anderson Trojans fired another eight-under-par 280 as a team in round two, posting a 36-hole total of 560 (-16), taking a 14-stroke lead over the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (-2, 574) at the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Lake Hickory Country Club Catawba Springs Course in Hickory, N.C. on Monday (April 17).
Following the Trojans and Bears in third place are the Tusculum Pioneers at 582 (+6), with Carson-Newman in fourth at 585 (+9). Limestone is in fifth at 586 (+10), with Lincoln Memorial in sixth at 587 (+11). Newberry is in seventh at 593 (+17) and Coker is in eighth at 594 (+18). Rounding out the field are Wingate (602, +26) in ninth, Catawba (615, +39) in 10th, UVA Wise (652, +76) in 11th, and Mars Hill (666, +90) in 12th.
Individually, Anderson's Alejandro de Castro shot a four-under-par 68, extending his lead to nine-under-par. Fellow Trojan Reece Coleman also shot a four-under-par 68 and is in second at six-under-par. Three golfers are tied for third at four-under-par, Calahan Keever of Anderson, Liam Waldron of Lenoir-Rhyne, and Kristoffer Larsson of Limestone.
