Lincoln Memorial Leads the Field After Opening Rounds of 2021 SAC Men's Golf Championship
TAZEWELL, TENN. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship got underway on Monday (April 19) with 36-holes of action taking place at the Woodlake Country Club in Tazewell, Tenn. After the opening two rounds of play, the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters lead the pack, followed by the Queens Royals in second, the Limestone Saints are in third, and the Carson-Newman Eagles are in fourth.
The Railsplitters fired the second-lowest opening round by a team in SAC history, shooting a 14 under-par 274 as a team. They shot a one-under-par 287 in the second round to close out the day at 15-under-par. Queens shot a five-under 283 in the first round and a six-under 282 in the second to finish at 11 under-par for the day. Limestone and Carson-Newman both finished the day under par with the Saints finishing at 569 (-7) and the Eagles carding a team score of 573 (-3).
Rounding out the rest of the field were Newberry in fifth at 587 (+11), Wingate in sixth at 590 (+14), Lenoir-Rhyne in seventh at 594 (+18), and Coker in eighth at 598 (+22). Anderson and Catawba are tied for ninth at 602 (+26), followed by Tusculum in 11th with a score of 609 (+33), UVA Wise in 12th at 652 (+76), and Mars Hill in 13th with a score of 681 (+105).
Individually, Lincoln Memorial's Dan Bradbury leads the way at 131 (-13) after firing rounds of 64 (-8) and 67 (-5). Fellow Railsplitter Luke Harries is in second at seven-under-par after shooting 67 (-5) and 70 (-2). Carson-Newman's Jake Mynatt, along with Queens' Clayson Good and Limestone's Gage Carnes are all tied for third at 140 (-4).
The third and final round of the 2021 SAC Men's Golf Championship will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday (April 20). Teams will tee-off on No.1 and No. 10. Live results and video of the championship can be found online at www.thesac.com.
